Not only women talk rubbish at the hair dressers

OK I have brought out the soap box once again as I have need to vent my frustrations once again.

Traditionally the hair dresser's is the realm of women to have a gossip session but yesterday whilst having a very bad hair cut by an under trained young " hair dresser" ( my normal hair-dresser had the day off) I was forced into a conversation between some jack the lad having his barnet "styled" for his big night out and the equally under trained stylist working on his desired look.

The conversation started off about how men always have an agenda when they take a female friend out for dinner or a drink. In other words us guys only take a female friend out in the hope that sex will follow.

Well once upon a time I might have agreed with this guy but he kept going on about how stupid the girl cutting my hair was because she had been out for dinner with a friend thinking it was only because they were friends and the guy was really was only doing it because he wanted to get her in bed. This conversation cost me a chunk of hair which I can ill afford to loose at my time of life and thinning hair . This I could almost excuse but the guy would not shut up and insisted in attempting to get me to agree with him.

I told him that it sounded to me that his conversation was more about his own insecurity than any understanding of friendly relationships between the opposite sexes etc. To this he had no real answer other than I was old and thought differently than young people..lol..lol ( I am 48 he was about 28ish )

He then asked me that if my wife wanted to go away with a male friend for a weekend in a caravan would I let her go ???

My answer to that was that I would be OK with that as I might love and trust her but I would not own her. I have always been of the opinion that in a relationship you are both equal so if you both want to be together then that's how it is and if one wants something else then you should not be together. Its like going out to a night club etc .. if you both have fun and flirt and dance with others etc thats all good and neither partner should get jealous as is more the case than the exception I am sorry to say. As long as my partner wants to come home with me at the end of the night thats what really matters.

I think this guy was missing the number one rule about the sexes.

Men are ruled by whats between their legs not whats between their ears !! The bad thing about this is that men only realise this at a later age (if at all) but women are born with this knowledge

Once you get to grips with rule number one it is more than possible to have a friendship with the opposite sex with out an agenda I believe.

Oh and if you are wondering why I had someone else cut my hair ??? I had to get my hair cut yesterday as I was working today and would not be back in time to get it cut today and as I will be working all next week I could not bare to wait another week to get my hair cut

So any thoughts on friendships between the sexes ?? Was Harry in " When Harry met Sally " right ?? Is it impossible to have a friendship with the opposite sex without it being sexual ???

Truckers last stand

OK I have not written for a very long time so I am either very lazy or have nothing to say

To be honest I am not sure other than my two faithful friends anyone else takes any notice so I have not been missed

So what have I to say if anything ???

The world has kept turning as has the wheels of my truck. The worrying thing is that in a recession, which we seem to be heading head long into, the first thing that suffers is transport and logistics. Its simple maths really, less good being sold = less goods to be moved = less truck drivers needed. I largely deliver electrical goods which is the first things to be cut back on when times get hard as we would all rather eat and put petrol in our cars than spend hundreds of pounds on a new TV etc.

Still one day at a time, one breath at a time and the world will keep turning and we will all do what we have to no matter what the future holds.

End of the Holiday

Holidays are great at the start but with all good things they have to come to an end and today is the end of my holiday

Why is it that its exciting to go to collect someone from an airport but depressing to take them back again ?? We all know its coming as we can not stay on holiday forever !! ( mores the shame ) and you know good friends have to go home so they can either come back again another time or you can go visit them

Well a good time has been had by all, so now its back to work to pay for it !! lol..lol

I would however recommend paying a visit to Warwick Castle as they have made many improvements and its well worth going to if you have friends to entertain etc.

Well here's to the next holiday whenever that may be >" class="middle" border="0">

Well I have reached the half way stage in my holiday and the British weather has caught up with me well at least the forecast has been right once this week its a shame they are right about the bad weather !!

I have a friend from Sweden over for the first solo holiday of her life and it has been a lot of fun if maybe a bit hard keeping up with a 21 year old at my age !! (48) So far I have managed to be the perfect tour guide visiting London etc and it was nice of my home town to arange the towns carnival for the weekend of her arrival to give an added free bonus to the entertainment

You know the younger generation get a lot of well deserved bad press with their anti social ways and disrespect of others and life in general, so its a very great and pleasant suprise when you get to see the flip side of the coin and get to spend time with a free thinking, fun loving wonderful human being that has a great deal of respect for herself and more so for others whilst still being her own person and doing the things her generation wants to do without all the hassle for others.

I think that this is living proof, if proof needed, that its not down to the way life is these days or the schools but the parents and the way people are brought up.

Well at least the roads are a safer place until Monday when I will be returning to the madness of being a truck driver once again so make the most of it people !!!

Holidays !!

Its that time of year and I am on holiday and so far have not been rained on and yes I am in England !!! then again its only my second day of holiday !! lol

To be honest when I say holiday I should really have said " tourist guide " as I have my best friends daughter over for a visit so I may be in need of another holiday straight after this one ..lol..

It would seem however that a lack of a sense of direction runs in the family as like her mother, my very welcome guest, managed to get lost three times at Arlanda airport and at one point was trying to get back on a plane that took her back home to the High Coast where she started from could this have been a sign of some sort ?? or just a perfect example of daughter taking after mother still all's well that ends well and no drama's at Heathrow.

So far we have been to Windsor Castle as thats only 15 minutes from Heathrow so a great tourist attraction ticked off with the minimum effort from me and maximum cool points. The ace up my sleeve is that my guest is 21, female and into fashion etc so when all else fails " GO SHOPPING " lol..lol What is it about some women and shopping ??? they spend all day going around every shop trying on everything in every shop only to end up buying from the first shop they went into lol..lol

Well we will just have to see how good a guide I am and how long the English weather will behave itself

OK !! so I am not the most active blogger known to man but does that mean I have nothing to say ??

I would prefer to say that I have far too much to say and not enough time or maybe the skills to say it

As for the time to sit and vent my thoughts on a blog thats a different story all together as my brain is normally fried by the time I have completed a 12 to 15 hour day on the highways and by ways of Britain trying to avoid all the other metal boxes with wheels that seem to think they are the only one on the road.

I have no idea where to start with issues that have crossed my path this week alone!! Tax is driving me mad, memebers of various parliments we have here are once again, to no one's suprise, being caught ripping the country off with their expence claims as it would seem now that not only are we paying for our prime ministers sky TV we are paying for childcare for the for another MP because on occations her nanny has answered a phone call or picked up the mail on the door step!!

Big Brother has appeard on TV once again for the 9 series or something. Can anyone please tell me the point ?? its total rubbish that cloggs up a TV channel for the best part of 3 months !! Just how sad do you have to be to appear on such a crap programme and just how sad a life do you need to get addicted to watching it ??

The Human Rights Act. This week here in the town where I live we had to move a prisoner from one court to another as he was in the wrong court. This was a distance of approx 200 metre's but because meant crossing a road and the prisoner would have to be handcuffed they had to divert a prison van 150 miles to move him as it would have been against his human rights to be seen in public with in handcuff's !!! they could not put him in a police car as " its not the police's job to transfer prisoners" even though the court he was going to is part of the main Police station in town This cost us local tax payers a fortune all to keep these political correctness morons happy.

European Cup Finals .. we have no national teams playing in these finals so why the hell are we getting 2 live matches a day or something ?? there is not enough good programming on TV as it is!! I am sure that they could have put these games on a pay per view channel or something and not on the BBC where once again tax payers money is being wasted on football matches that mean nothing to us. But we do have national Rugby teams playing in New Zealand and south Africa on tours but if we want to watch them we have to pay !!! " class="middle" border="0"> ( OK I admit I hate football and love Rugby )

Right I am off to connect up my new toy ( DVD player ) this could take some time as with all men I will be attempting this task without the aid of the instruction provided as that how we " MEN" do such things

Made it through another week

After another 60+ hour week its nice to switch off and recharge in the sunshine of what might be the weekend we have our summer !!

Well it was April last year when we had a week or so of great,hot weather followed by a very very dissapointing summer or did we just skip summer and move into autum/winter ?? and be warned the same people that forecast a long hot summer followed by a very dry and very cold winter last year and we got the opposite are at it again for this summer so I would stock up on wet weather gear and spend that little bit extra on a holiday with the chance of more sunshine

Have you ever had a programme about your job on TV and sat there thinking "who are they talking about on here !? " well I had one of those moments a few weeks ago watching a programme on truck drivers. On the programme the presenter kept on about the "high" pay of british truck drivers being the reason there are so many eastern european drivers causing mayhem on our roads.

Please allow me enlighten you on truck drivers pay. I am an agency driver and have not had a pay rise since coming back to driver nearly three years ago. Yes I can earn £30,000 plus a year if I work my ass off doing all the legal hours I am offered but at what cost to the rest of my life ?? How many of you would want to work 60+ hours every week ?? OK the money is good if you do the hours as a driver but not so hot if you do not get the hours. The unseen cost that no one see's is that if you are working 12 to 15 hours a day getting up every morning at 3am there is no time for a social life or almost anything other than sleep during the week and at the weekends I am so tired and worn out that I do not want to put the effort into thinking and need to rest mind and body to start it all over again on Monday. Before returning to driving for a living I used to go out to salsa clubs a couple of times a week but that has now had to stop so despite not wanting it to, driving has turned into a way of life not a job.

Next time you curse a big lorry/ truck as its noisy and smelly and blocking up the roads just stop and think about what you need to live and to have fun and then think how it got to your shops or into your life and then think how it got there if not on a truck at one point

Rip-off Britain

Well another very long week at work. 6 days again this week and nearly 70 hours once again.

You know we in Britain work longer hours than almost anyone else in Europe. We pay more tax than most in Europe and we pay more for everything we need than most countries in the world.

We are known the world over as " Rip-off Britain! " and with good reason as the major players in the market place know they can get much more for their good here than anywhere else and we still let them get away with it.

Examples are being shown on how we get ripped off all the time. This week there was a programme on TV proving once again that most of our electrical good such as TV, computers etc are much cheaper in the US as was shown in one example where it would be cheaper to fly to New York for the weekend and buy a top end laptop, pay the tax when you got it back here and still have money left over from the money you would have spent buying the same laptop here !!!

It does not stop there though.. its the same with our clothes and womens make-up, purfumes, sports goods,cars and increasingly our food.

OK we can all do without expensive toys maybe but we can not do without energy to heat our homes and that too we are being ripped off for. Fuel bills for the home have shot up and we are told this is because the cost of the gas and oil are going up all the time and the companies have no choice but to pass on those increases !!?? But how can that be true when for a period last year when they opened a new gas pipeline in to Britain and the gas was being given away to the companies as they had so much of it we saw no decrease in our heating and cooking bills but a massive rise in the profits of the energy providers ???

This rip-off of Britain has been an open secret to the world for decades now and still we have to suffer whilst our own government does nothing. OK they set up commities and agencies to "monitor" and " regulate" the energy companies but these are toothless lions that do nothing much but hand out fines now and then that have no effect on the compamies they fine as they have the power just to pass such fines straight onto us.

So next time you get a chance to ask your MP a question try asking him/her what they are doing about " Rip-off Britain " and see if they have an answer ?? I am betting they don't !!!

So lets look at today !!

I woke up to thick frost on the windscreen of the car ( winter ) I have spent most of the day working outside in my shirt-sleeves with the sun burning my face and arms at times ( summer ) and ended the day getting soaking wet whilst unloading in Leicester ( Autum/Spring ish )

Or can this all be explained by global cooling followed by global warming with global wetting thrown in as something new >" class="middle" border="0"> that should keep the tree hungers busy for a while trying to decide what to protest about next lol..lol

Well I live to fight another day and at least every day is a little different and the weather keeps us Brits busy with something to talk about

Spring has sprung a leak !!

OK !! hands up all of you that have been enjoying some warm spring days recently only to wake up to a covering of snow this morning ??? I know that talking about the weather is a national past-time here but come on nature get your act together !! we go to all the trouble of changing our clocks last weekend and you give us SNOW!! April showers we expect, no problem we can deal with that but now you are taking the joke too far after a "White Easter" !!

So brace yourselves Britain as you know the government will not look this gift horse in the mouth and come up with a " Spring Snow " tax of some sort as we have caused this climate change as we do not pay enough "green" tax already and you know they must be running sort of a few quid to pay for all the expences they are claiming !!!

For anyone out there that in the past has read any of my blogs and has been wondering where I have gone ?? the answer is nowhere!! I can just not get my blogs accepted on here for whatever reason ?? Blog UK seems to chew them up and then spit them out so the lack of blog has not been from the want of trying I promise

Good intentions

Why is it that I always have "good intentions" to make use of any free time I get and never seem to be able to follow through on them ??

Foe example, I had good intentions to get out and about this morning and do some shopping and look at some cars as I have been thinking of buying a new one. These good intentions turned into waking up at 3am and not being able to get back to sleep. ( 3am is my normal wake up time for work) This was followed by surfing the net for a while so at least I managed to look at some cars .. then I thought I would have a "sit" on the sofa and watch the rubiish morning TV .. the sun was shinning through the window and it was going to be a nice morning to be out

The "sit" turned into a sleep and morning into afternoon and the sunshine into rain and hail and all plans and intentions went out the window.. Guess I am what they call more an "ideas " type than the action type..lol..lol I often wish someone would put me up for one of those home make over shows so that all the great ideas I have would one day get done around here..lol..lol

Well there is always another day and more " great intentions " to come up with and you never know tomorrow might be the day I actually follow through on one or two

Sunday blog thoughts

One of the worst things about my job is that I have to be up very early most mornings ( around 3 or 4am ) so find it almost impossible to not wake up early at the weekends the curse of the early morning worker lol..

I am not a massive sports fan, I have no interest in football, but I do love to watch Rugby and motorsport, mainly F1, so this weekend has been taken up with watching the final games of the Six Nations Rugby and a bonus to not being able to lay in at the weekend I watched the F1 race from Oz this morning in real time

It was great to see England turn up for the game against Ireland, shame they did not do the same last weekend against Scotland and well done to Wales beating France and winning the title and the Grandslam !! England played very poorly this year only really playing the game we know they have against France and Ireland but Wales were head and shoulders above the rest and have a deserved title win.

Big thanks go out to the F1 organisers for taking aways some of the toys the drivers have enjoyed over recent years such as traction control and made the drivers have to work for a living to race the cars instead of just being there to steer the car around the track

For those unsure of what I speak about, over the past years technoligy has taken over many of the skills the old time race drivers had to have. The modern cars had traction control to make it easier to use the massive power of the cars without losing control and launch controls to make getting the car off the start line without spinning the wheels and many other driver aids to make the drivers job so much easier and making the car more the star than the driver in it in my opinion.

So what for the rest of Sunday ??? well a singl mans work is never done lol. so I have laundry and cleaning to do ( yes men can do such things on their own ) and as the weather is rubbish I will be happy to be inside for the day and can even watch the replay of the Grand Prix later hope Lewis Hamilton wins again lol..lol

It's been a while !!

Hello again Blogland !!

I have no idea what to say most of the time as you might have noticed with the lack of blogs !!

There is so much going on around me in this world of ours that I get so mad and then do not know where to start.

I have had a very very long week at work ( almost 70 hours )and it would seem "care in the community" for the mentally ill does extend to the roads of our fair country lol..lol I am still amazed daily at just how bad the standards of driving is and believe me its getting worse !!! Driving a truck for a living is bad enough with the amount of hassle we get from the job without other road user's seemingly not able to see us or using us for target practise. I could have written off at least 20 cars/vans this week sending their drivers to hospital or worse had I not taken avoiding actions such as slamming my brakes on which is not an easy or safe thing to do in a 44 ton truck.

No wonder that HGV truck driving is in the top 3 most stressed jobs in the UK.

Then we have our wonderful government having their budget statement on Wednesday.

Once again hammering the common folk and handing all the good things in live to those with the money which seem's increasingly to be those in our government with daily outing of our politions and the way they are stealing money from us using their " expense's" to feather their nests. Now we find out that they can claim not only for a second home but for everything they put in that "second" home !! such as £10,000 for a kitchen and having to penny pinch with mere £300 for a rug, each that is !!! You know I think its the least we can do for these poor people that we force into becoming politions, hey !! maybe we should extend this process to all workers that have to commute to work I am sure I could find a place in whatever home I have for a £750 TV or £750 music system such as our beloved polititions can claim for.

As for the budget, well lets see what our party of the common people did for us all. Beer and wine etc up in tax, smoking up in tax, nice cars up in tax, holiday flights up in tax in fact all the things we work hard for as working class people is being put further and further out of our reach and that does not include all the high prices we have now on food and home energy stuff such as gas and electricity.

So its no longer worth working your socks off to get that nice big car of your dreams as you might be able to buy it some day but you will not be able to afford to run it afterwards unless you are one to the rich that support the government with their money and get tax breaks for doing so and are not effected by fuel and road tax increases. The same goes for all the other things fun in life like a good night out and maybe a nice holiday. So who are those in parliment really looking out for as its not the common man as we are the one's being hammered by one tax after another on the every day things we need just to live.

You know I would not mind if we saw something back for all the money that is being ripped from our pay packets and pockets other than reading how those doing it are living the high life claiming massive amounts of our money for themselves for a job the asked to do !! now we know why as they have to do very little whilst making a fortune and then when they are finished doing that they get a pension that would support half a dozen pensioners and all for maybe 5 years in parliment.

Whats got mt attention this week ???

I have been reminded again this week of just how lazy we all are here in the UK when it comes to other languages.

We all love our holiday's and chatting to people around the globe on the net as long as we can do it and still speak English !! ( No talking louder and slowly in English does not count as another language ) and of course we expect on the whole to have "British " food and drink to hand.

I think we owe alot of our laziness to history, the "British Empire" etc where we used to "rule" half the world or maybe other parts of history like the two World Wars where the bad guys spoke German and the good guys largely English ( yes American counts as English ) The rest I would put down to TV !! most of the good TV programmes around the world are in English so there is a good incentive for the kids to learn and I think learning from your favorite TV programme has to be better than the French lesson's I had a school.

Cyclists !! ("every truck driver should have one to aim at") There was a radio programme this week with some moron of a cyclist say that truck drivers should have lesson on a bike as part of their driving test to make them more aware of cyclists problems on our roads.

Let see here. As a class one truck driver I had to sit a car driving test, a class two truck driving test and finally a class one driving test to get to where I am now. Every company I have driven for I have had to take a driving test both written and on the road to be able to drive for that company. The last time I looked all I had to do was buy a bike to become a cyclist ??

Lets look at this another way.

The truck I drive is nearly 9 feet wide and 14 feet high and pulls a 45 foot trailer behind it. It has lights and even flashing things called "indicators" to let other road users know what it wants to do, so I think you will agree its a bit hard to miss when its out on the road.

A cyclist is what, between 4 and 6 feet high ? maybe a couple of feet wide, sometimes has lights on it and requires you to be a mind reader most of the time to stand any chance of knowing what they will do next !!

So who do you think is easier to see ?? the trucks on the roads or the cyclists ?? and who is the easier to avoid ??? Enough said I think .. if you can clearly see something that can easily kill you why would you want to mess with it by riding up its blind side or trying to "slip" past it as it tries to turn left ??

Motorway Rent-a-cops

I am not sorry to be back to ranting about poor driving etc on our roads !!

I want to talk about those paining the ass rent-a-cops we now have sleeping on our motorways !!

For those unsure about what I am going on about, a while back our wonderful government, once again after spending millions on "research ", came up with a replacement for the great job the motorway police where doing here in Britain by introducing their own version without using policemen. These guys ride around in big "look alike" police type 4x4's and can be found sleeping along side most motorways these day's. The idea was to free up the Police to do other things and we were told that these guys main job was to keep our the traffic moving on our roads.

Well if any government people are reading this YOU HAVE FAILED !!! these giys are a pain in the ass and do a crap job and cause more problems than they solve. Examples !! where as we truck drivers used to get our tyres changed on the side of the road if we got a flat without too much of a fuss, these days the rent-a-cops turn up and all but close the motorway to do the same job !!causing delays and the hold ups they promised us these guys would stop !! Yesterday on the M25 there was a smash with everything on the hard shoulder. The rent-a-cops turned up and instead of keeping the traffic flowing on a Friday afternoon rush hour they ignored all but the filling in of their forms and building their little cone empire on the hard shoulder allowing traffic to back up for approx 6 miles for over 3 hours due to rubber neckers slowing down to see what was going on !!!great job boys !!!

You know if he government concentrated on sorting rubber neckers out as they do people having to speed to make up time due to " rent-a-cop " delays or rubber neckers trying to see if there is any blood etc the roads would flow much easier than they do.

As you might guess for yourself I did not have a great day on the roads yesterday, what with rent-a-cops and poeple trying to kill themselves by cutting up a 44 ton truck doing 56 miles an hour or the moron doing 50 mph on the motorway and still slammed his brakes on when he saw a police car on the hard shoulder !!

why oh why do people go on motorways if they are unable to do a minimum of 60 mph ?? you know you are safer driving on a motorway if you maintain at least 60mph where possible ..

Here are a couple of tips from a truck driver on how to be safer on the roads..

Trucks are restricted to 56 mph. So if you being passed by lots of trucks you are driving too slowly for your own safety.

When a truck is catching up quickly with a truck infront of him and has the indicators on it means he needs to overtake !! not that he needs you to slowly try to overtake him making him brake so he does not run in to the back of the truck infront !!!

And for the last time poeple !!! when you come down the on ramp to a motorway it does not mean that everyone has to move out of your way to allow you on the motorway .. it is up to you to alter your speed to get on to the motorway without causing others to alter their speed or direction !!! and you have to be prepared to continue along the hard shoulder if your run out of on ramp before you can safely join the motorway !!

OK !! Not written much for a while, then again no one seems that interested in what I write good job its all about saying what you want to say on here and not so much about what others think and say about it

So whats rolling around in my brain today ??

I think there is slight confusion with whats going on with the weather for this time of year .. I get up in the morning and have to scrap ice from the car windscreen so I can put my sunglasses on to drive to work in the sunshine

Thats not the only thing that seems to be going mad in this world of ours !! I think it might be for the best if we continue to invest in space travel so we can find another planet to send all these morons too now Australia is full and sending their mad ones here !! lol..lol

Political Correctness is running wild and is almost neck and neck with Health and Safety in the worlds gone mad stakes .. When did life become so difficult ?? I do not remember any of this "PC" or "H&S" rubbish when I was a kid and the world seemed a much safer and nicer place to be and a dam sight simpler to boot. There are so many people telling us whats good and whats not and how we should and should not lead our lives that there is no time to have a life by the time you have checked out everything to make sure you are not breaking some law or rule in trying to have some fun. Then again just think how high the unemployment level would be if all these PC and H&S people were not working so hard "helping " us have "better" lives ??

Morning all !!

So the England Rugby team can play in the first half of a match at last !!! shame they forgot there was a second half and where soundly beating by a welsh club team yesterday. Hey !! we are used to such things here in England as we invented most of the worlds team sports, taught everyone how to play and the rules and now let them beat us at the games as its the English way it would seem lol..

OK I know its only a game but when you look at it do you not think something is going wrong here that we want the Olympic's and the football World Cup etc to be played here but we really do not take our sports that serious and are content to import most of the top players and managers for our top flight sporting teams and will search through the centries to find some sort of birth connection to claim oversea's players as our own ?? and we wonder why our national teams find it increasingly hard to find world class home grown players.

So what else is going on in Madtrucker land ? Not a great deal at the moment as I am by nature some what of a lazy git when it comes to weekends Come to think about it I am a lazy git for most of the week too !!! but there is as always the laundry to do and as I am no longer in the flush of my youth I can not claim to believe that the laundry does itself (as I am sure all of you out there with teenagers know all about ) or that there is a washing up and cleaning the bathroom fairy !! mores the pity and as I have no wife or girlfriend for such things !! ( only kidding readers of the female kind ) and you know they say that "if you want a job doing right, get someone else in to do it" !! ( can't afford a cleaner ) so I am left with the mark one slave !! ME!! Then again I did spend the first 6 years or so of my working life in the Army and the saying there was that " God built the world in 6 days and on the 7th the Army cleaned it " but in my defence I left the Army in 1982.

Well a single mans work is never done !!! so I had best get on.

Well if I had a wife she would be a Rugby widow this weekend and for the next 7 ish !!

So whats got me thinking again this saturday ??

Well I still can not get past this obsession with fat and thin people .. How many times will we have to see fat people making excuses and wanting everyone to do everything for them so they can be thin without putting any effort in themselves.. and super thin people that are fashion vitims mainly reading all the crap they put in the mags about this or that is bad for you or you are unable to eat wheat or dairy. The Super fat super thin show proved all you have to do is change your diet and you will gain or loose weight. The woman that was supr thin and thought she was allergic to everything and anything was proved that she could eat almost anything and suprise suprise eating nomally she gain weight slowly and looked and felt a lot better.. the super fat person changed his diet and if by magic he lost 4.5 stone in 12 weeks and without an operation in sight. Maybe the 34 stone woman in her own show should maybe stop making excuses and look at what others do for themselves instead of demanding an operation to do what she could do herself if she was not so lazy.

Before anyone gets on a higher horse than me .. I have lost 5kgs in just over 2 weeks by cutting out comfort eating and sweets and dessert during the week and giving myself a treat at weekends.. no exercise, no expensive gym and no operations or pills, just simple diet changes.

I think that TV and diet shows in general are making the simple things in weight loss so much harder and giving so many people an avenue to some sort of quick fix via an operation instead of working for what they want.

Well I guess they blame fast food for the problem and now expect us via the NHS to give them the fast fix.

Think, before they find a way to tax it!!

This week has been very thought prevoking going through some of the blogs posted recently.

So what have I been reading .. Well the subjects have been very varied ranging from globel warming to sign language and from views on the way women are looked at by both sex's and the simple everyday things we go through in our lives and want to share with others.

Opening windows into other people's lives can sometimes make us look at our own lives and also look inwards at our own thoughts and reaction to others opinions and wehther we agree or totally disagree with what is written the result is the same, it makes you think!

I have often been accused of not being able to compromise on other's opinions etc .. But could that just be that I am very happy to listen to others opinions but not always willing to agree with them ?? Two different views on the same subject seen from two different sides, who is to say who is right ?? but wars have been fought over less.

Is it right that we treat deaf people as weird if they talk to eachother with their hands or is it that we just do not know what they are saying and not knowing is the fear factor that makes us want to laugh our fear away by making fun of people doing with their hands and eyes what we all take for granted by using our mouths and ears?? Where is it written that a woman with a smaller breast is less attractive or less of a woman than those with large breasts ? We all want to do things our own way but everyone else has to follow the crowd and conform to what " is the norm " or " how it should be " Why is it OK for a woman to have a career, vote, get drunk and have a great time and make a life for herself but she is a "slag" or "easy" or less of a female if she not a virgin for her wedding or enjoys sex just for the fun of it when a man is told its manly to go out and sow his wild oats and is a "good old boy" if he scores every night etc ..

Well I am rambling here and perhaps not making any sense or is that what blogs are all about ?? you get to air your views with no arguements coming back unless you wish to read them lol..lol

I once told a very good friend going through the worse time in their life after trying to kill themself that life is like a number of building blocks. We all build them up in different ways and sometimes those blocks fall down so we get pissed off but then we have to start and build them up again. We all have different ideas in the way we build our life blocks and have to do the best we can with the choices we make and the order we build the blocks. So be proud of your construction and never be afraid of standing by it, just feel sorry for those that store buy their blocks already built up in the order someone generations past designed for the sheep to follow.

Thinking is free ! thought cost nothing ! so before they find a way to tax it have a go !!! but keep the thinking about yourself and leave others to do their own thinking so that you have thoughts to share with them.

We are being ripped off again!!!

What a suprise!! we here in Britian are being ripped off once again, this time by the energy companies. ( must be their turn again )

After massive hikes in the cost of gas and electricity because of "higher market" costs for gas and oil, we are now finding out that the companies providing us with these utilities are about to anounce massive hikes in their profits!! ( wonder how that happened ?? )

As I remember it, a few months ago they were giving gas away to the gas companies even offering to pay the gas companies to take the gas !! but did we get massive cuts in our costs?? did we hell ..lol..lol as always quick to charge more, not so quick to cut the costs to joe public.

OK we now have the choice of a number of providers which is menat to creat compatition on prices and I am sure it does if you change your provider every other month but then again are they not also now looking at these providers for fixing costs between them???

I heard that they have asked for an investigation into this but who wants to bet that when they find the price hikes are not fair for whatever reason, our wonderful government will not force a price reduction but I am willing to bet they will tax the profits so we still get ripped off but the government gets more to spend on MP's expences and an above inflation pay award to themselves !!

Oh and the topping on the cake for me is that our wonderful energy providers whilst making massive profits and pushing up our energy bills are aware that there are people can not afford these constant price increases and their solution ?? The government should help out those on low incomes etc !!

The costs of being British just keep getting higher !!! who will be next to see us as weak and ripe for ripping off ???

What a trucking day !!

Well Harlow and back was a dream if you miss out the 12 mile tail back on the M1 north bound on my return journey

You know it is possible to know a different way home avoiding traffic problems without the use of satnat etc God bless the A1 !!! clear as a bell as I think most drivers where admiring the road works south of Luton stuck in the traffic

A quick question about the radio .. has anyone ever heard the whole of a record on Sarah Kennardy's radio show without her stupid inane chatter all over it ?? She has a really great show when she is ill or on holiday !! lol..lol Sorry the woman drives me mad with her " much beloved " and her "canters" and "sw's" rubbish!! At that time of the morning you need some lively music etc to get you going and on your way to work not all the self-promoting rubbish she comes up. (Yes I know the radio has an on off button or a switch to change channels )

Next item.. overweight people.. I read a blog today by mycorneroftheworld, commenting on a programme about a woman that weighed 70 stone or something ... There seems to be a lot going on about being overweight here at the moment and yes its about time people took responcibility for their own health and that includes their weight etc .. but I heard on the radio today that the government are now thinking of giving obese people money to buy healthier food or to pay for their gym membership or something .. what a load of crap !! I am overweight by about a stone or more and thats because I eat too much and do not exercise enough simple as that .. its not so much about how healthy the food is but the amount to shove in your face .. I have lost about half a stone in the last couple of weeks by not eating sweets and desserts .. simple, less in.. less I weigh.

People are overweight because they want to be no matter what excuses we come up with.. I put on weight when bored or pissed off because I comfort eat.. so why should I pay tax for others that have lost control ?? maybe if they had less to spend on too much food they would have no option but to lose weight??? (less in the less you weigh) I think this point was proved by a guy that lost 30 stones, OK at one point he had an operation to help him but before that he had to lose 10 stone in 3 months to be able to have the operation and he did it by going to weight watchers and eating less and exercising more.

I am sorry if this pisses anyone off but as a single guy paying tax on everything and getting nothing back as I am working and in good health, (I could not even get help when I was short of work for a while because I had savings)to keep hearing about all the handouts and people expecting money from the government because they want children or they are overweight or gay or lesbian or whatever other reasons they keep coming up with and throwing money at.

Well another day in truckland ..

4am start and clear roads all the way to Gloscester for a 7am delivery .. Let me tell you its a nightmere trying to find anyone with any sense at 6:30am in Gloscester town centre when you have no idea where the warehouse is that you have to deliver too !! lol..lol and no it would not be easier to have satnav as it does not cater for trucks and gets us into more trouble than it helps.. Well my keen drivers six sense kicked in and by the time I managed to find someone able to communicate on a helpful level I was just around the corner from where I needed to be ... why of why do street signs always seem to be facing the opposite way to the way you are driving !! " class="middle" border="0"> lol..lol

Then it was back to Evesham to the Sommerfields services for one of their fantastic butties and a big bad of trail mix. I know trail mix is a bit healthy for a truck driver but not all of us eat hedgehog sandwiches and drink engine oil or spend all our spare time in the greasy spoon shovelling fried food down our throats mind you a bag of trail mix and a bottle of water is no real replacement for a full english breakfast and the side effects are not too healthy lol..lol good job I was in the cab alone today I would however recommend to one and all the Sommerfield hot baps and they are cheap !!not your nomal £4 for a cardboard sandwich.

Well the rest of the day was spent taking as long as possible to de-hire a trailer to stretch out my hours as hours mean money and at the end of the day thats what we all go to work for. I think the most exciting part of the day was being flashed ( lights ) by one and all letting me know there was a mobile speed camera ahead of me and there was me trying to workout all these nice people saying hello where >" class="middle" border="0">

Well I have two more days to survive until the weekend .. so watch out Harlow I am on my way tomorrow to give you the benifits of my driving skills ..lol..lol

Why Is tax the only answer to everything ??

This week we have been revisiting our out of control youth and the evils of drinking after the trial and conviction of three youths for the murder of a man that attempted to stop them damaging his wifes car outside his own home.

Let me first say that the sentences these animals recieved in no way matched the crime. With this weak government and the over crowding of our prisons they will all be out within 12 years or so, whereas the family of the dead man will serve a life sentence without the husband and father they loved so much.

There have been programmes on TV and the radio all week with huge numbers of over educated so called "experts" coming up with all sorts of crap about the social overview of our youth and that they are not to blame and that prison should be there to reform and not to punish and its all down to fast food and the fact that they were not breast fed or had a father and lots of other stupid excuses that these "experts" come up with to keep them in their over paid jobs. What was the outcome of all of this ?? we need to tax booze more and make it more expensive!!

So once again they bring out the "magic bullet" the cures all the worlds ills !! The hole in the ozone cured by tax on fuel and roads and congestion charging in our towns and cities. under age drinking and binge drinking cured once again by more tax and higher costs eventhough we are being told by the "experts" that its only a small minority causing the problem.. The rising problem with our out of contol youth and their total lack of respect everyone and everything including their parents and the Police.. I am sure the rest of us paying more tax will clear that up in no time ??!!

So lets look at the real life we all have to live in and maybe the real answers to these problems. Will taxing booze more work or will it just make crime rise when these bastards attack the weak etc to get the money they need to get the booze they want?? It was not so long ago that the whole country was up in arms over the price of a pint of beer passing £1 but we all kept drinking and done so with beer passing £2 at great speed. As with the increase in tax on petrol etc the roads are no less congested and we still fly all over the world on holidays and business. I have been a drinker since I was 14 and I used to be out on the town drinking myself stupid all weekend every weekend and I have never attacked anyone or been in a fight or felt like killing someone and I also grew up with no father in a single parent family and belive I was bottle fed.

We all look to the Police to protect us and deal with these yobs and scumbags. How are the Police to do this when we have masses of groups and organisations tying the Police's hands with red tape and human rights and laws that all these kids know all about and use against the Police every day.

My solution to this would be to free the Police to go back to when we did not so much fear the Police but had a healthy respect for the force and the law and the sight of a Policeman was enough to stop crime as with me when I was a child, my mother would say that if I did not behave she would tell George, the local Policeman and that was enough to make me behave where now if you did that the kids would laugh and throw stones at the Police cars etc and the Police are powerless to do much of anything about it.

Its time we sacked the "experts" and stopped making excuses for these kids and reclaim our streets back from these morons. Not only is this down to the Police etc but its time that parents took the responcibility for their kids and we also need to free the hands of schools to enforce disapline in our schools. Its time people stopped looking to others, mainly the government, to sort their kids out and started doing it themselves.

Whats the world coming too

What has happened to the weather lately ?? it does not seem to be able to make its mind up what to do or what season it is lol..lol I do not think you can put it all down to global warming as I am sure many will.

Yesterday whilst out on the roads around Birmingham I think I passed through some sort of weather nightmere !! One moment I could not see a thing because it was raining so hard and the next I was in a mini blizzard or a combination of them both !! Today I wake up to a hard frost on the car but beautiful blue skies and bright sunshine!!!?? go figure lol..lol I know we Brits are world famous for talking about the weather but who in their right mind would want to make a prediction on it these days..

At the moment the TV is full of programmes about our food and where we get it from and how it is grown etc .. from simple eggs to chichens and meat. We are even being shown our food from birth to when it gets on to our tables( how it is grown,killed and preped etc

But what they missed is how our food is handled in the shops and supermarkets etc..for example, the hats they wear ?? are they for fashion or function ??? are they there to keep their head warm or our food clean ??? the answer is that they are supposed to wear hats to keep hair or anything else from falling into the food they handle, so why are they worn on the back of the head with more hair outside the hat than underneath it ?? Blue plastic gloves, are they they to protact the persons hands or to protect our food from contamination ?? they are worn to protect the food, so why do they handle our food in them and then lean on counters brush their hair out of their faces or handle money or other things without changing the gloves before handling food again?? Protective clothing, is that to keep them warm behind the counter or again to protect our food ??? simple answer again is that its suppose to be worn to keep our food clean. So why do they go to the canteen or to the warehouse to get stuff wearing it and then return to the counter to serve people ???

Today whilst shopping I walked past a deli counter in my supermarket. In the time it took to walk past I watched a young girl cough into her hand, brush her hair away from her face with the same hand and then serve someone with sliced meats the other woman on the counter was using a slicing machine wearing her blue gloves, she too was having problems with her hair and even rubbed her nose with her hand and continued slicing !!!! and we wonder why so many people have the winter bug etc ..lol..lol

Nex time you go into a fast food place or a supermarket you just watch the people handling your food and have a think about it ..lol..lol I only buy packaged meats now as I have worked in some of the places that produce these ready packed meats for the supermarkes and the hygene standards are so much higher so at least you have a better chance with them..lol..lol

Out with the old in with the new

I suppose I should pass comment on the changing of the years and the madness that is now Christmas.

I think I must be the worlds worst person to ask or to comment on Christmas as I gave it up many years ago. Well just how many shirts, jumpers etc that you would not been seen in public in can one man have ?? and I am sure you need some sort of permit to pour so much rubbish aftershave down the drain??

Have to say I always thought it was some sort of comment about me to get socks, underpants and cosmetic's as presents like people were trying to tell me something

Where has the real Christmas gone ??? or has it always been about spending more than you can afford on the latest toys and things you must have according to the TV adverts and buying everything on the shelves at the local supermarket as there will be massive shortages during the day or two the shops will be closed

OK so I am an old bore that has no life or something ?? well you could be right but at my age and being alone and liking it, one year is very much just like the one before and like bills there is always another one waiting around the corner >" class="middle" border="0">

So I take this blog to wish all of you a happy and healthy 2008 and may whomever grant you the staying power to keep with the diet or the stopping smoking you have promised to stick with this year

The week that was !!!

Hello again blog mates !!!

Well after a 6 day working week and 72 hours hours worked I was ready for something nearing a weekend I am sorry to report that Sunday is not enough when looking for a weekend !!

I have been trying to catch up with all the housework as its not only wives and mothers that get to have that pleasure but also us single, live alone guys ( yes I know where the washing machine is and I am not affraid to use it ) >" class="middle" border="0"> So inbetween the laundry and food shopping I have also fitted in an attempt at Christmas shopping !!

Sadly I have to report that although I have visited every shop I knew of in town (aswell as some I never knew we had) I have come up empty handed where oh where has all the good stuff gone ??? I could not find anything I would want to send to anyone I liked!! on the other hand, all of you out there looking for cheap or expensive rubbish you are very much in luck this year

One question I would like to ask ... what is it about people with prams or push chairs that makes them push the chair out into the road before they look to see if its safe for them to cross !!! 3 time today someone unsighted pushed the chair into the path of my car before they looked ... on one occation I could not even see the person pushing the chair so they certainly could not see me ...

So anything interesting going on in "the week that was" I hear you all cry ???

We had Gordon Brown, our priminister, who would not be seen on TV signing some EU charter that none of us want and he will not give us a vote on ( nothing new there as he would not let us vote on having him as priminster )...

It would seem we lose a shed load of soldier every year as they are sacked after failing drug tests !!!
Lets have a look at that. We send young soldiers in to war zones for 6 months at a time and then when they come back their living condition are total rubbish and no one has been looking after their families and no one is interested in helping them deal with what they have been through before sending them off to another war zone to add to their stresses!!! and we wonder why some turn to chemical help

The other main thing going on is a fuel protest. Well maybe an attempted fuel protest is nearer the point after petrol etc went past £1 a litre ( most of which is tax ) I say attempted because after the last fuel protests which had a big effect and gave Joe public a victory of sorts, the government have made new laws stopping most of the effective tactic's used in protests like blocking the fuel depots so that fuel can not be delivered bringing the country to a halt on occations. Well good luck to you boys and girls, I as a truck driver are right behind you with your protests.

But you know this brings me back to an old question posted on my blog some time ago. The Government slap tax on anything they can calling it a "green tax", the latest a tax is on selling your own home in the form of "Home information pack " that we now all have to buy from the government before we can sell our own property !?! So I ask again, with all the billions they are raking in in " green taxes " where is all the new green stuff making the world a better place ??? Unless you count hundreds of government emplyee's flying around the world to some of the best resorts etc to talk about measures to clean up the world because of too many people flying around the world

The Mad take over tha Madhouse

Well I think it has finally happened !!! the Mad are taking over the Madhouse !!!

What is happening to this world of ours??? health and safety and political correctness is running riot and ruining peoples lives and coming up with such amazing feats of supidity that I just want to stop the world and get off !!

This country of ours is called Great Britain not mulity faith and nationality island off the coast of Europe or some such thing. As Great Britain we are a christian country that welcomes other faiths openly and allows everyone to have and voice their own religous beliefs and yes we should be proud of that.

But what has this turned into ??? We have a tradition here that at Christmas young kids put on a nativity play at school but this is now being stopped in some schools as it might offend those of other faiths !! We have even had some morons in our own government saying that we should not have Christmas anymore or even use the word Christmas incase we offend people of other faiths living here.

Councils have said they will not put up Christmas decorations in the streets as it could offend non christians yet they are happy to put up decorations for other faiths celebrations thoughout the year ??? Here where I live the council has refused to put up the decorations because they can not get enough "friendly " light bulbs !!! in other towns they have not put up the Christmas lights as someone might fall off a ladder while putting them up or someone might get injured if a light falls on them !!

Another tradition is the Christmas Panto and this too has been PC'd or H&S'd with the tradition of throwing sweets out for the kids in the audiance stopped because they can not get insurance incase one of the kids gets injured by the sweets !!!! and there was some question about the tradition of men dressing up as the panto dams !!!lol..lol what on earth is this world coming too ????

Do we now have to wrapp everything in cotton wool and be of mono faith with us all dressing exactly the same and all doing and agreeing on the same things so no one can object ?? and is it now the case that we have to always put others belieifs and feelings before our nations?? you know I have to ask myself, if we are such a bad place and keep offending so many people why do so many people want to come and live here in the first place ???

The mad are runnng the madhouse and costing us a fortune at the same time. You know there was non of this H&S and PC stuff around when I was growing up and we all seemed to have made it throw with not too much trouble, playing out in the streets and holding plays and having lights etc at Christmas, as did the generations before that .. maybe we need to look back a bit before we go forward and see that life can still be an adventure and fun and maybe we will not have fat kids playing on computers all day and be able to celebrate good times as we used to

The " weekend " mans best invention

Well once again if you work hard for 5 days you are rewarded with one of mans greatest inventions " the weekend"!!

I was listening to the radio whilst working, there was a question asked, " why is a week 7 days long" ? Well I can not remember the correct answer but I had to smile when they were asked if anyone had tried to change the amount of days in a week etc as someone suggested it would be nice to have an 8 day week, 4 days working and a 4 day weekend lol.. and suprise, suprise the French tried to introduce a 10 day week a long while back so you see their trying to mess with the working week and the amount of hours we should all be working is nothing new

I work for a big retail company making their store deliveries and have to say that we are much quieter this year with the amounts we are delivering to each store. It would seem people are holding back on spending for Christmas with the problems with banking and house prices and so on. Lucky for me this means that instead of delivering to maybe 2 stores per day we can fit 4 or more stores per trailer giving me more work to do and as I am paid by the hour more hours mean more pay and maybe lucky for everyone else this Christmas as the stores will have to bring their prices down to get us all to spend .

The downside to this ( yes there is always a downside somehow ) is that I have to spend more and more time on the road trying to avoid the increasing number of morons that seem to have no road sense at all. One small example, when a lorry leaves a gap between itself and the vehicle infront thats what we call a " braking gap " as lorries weigh a great deal more than cars we need more space to stop, common sense you would think?? So why of why do car drivers insist on shooting into those gaps just as the traffic infront is coming to a stop!!!?? It happened to me yesterday and if I had been loaded and not empty the front of my truck would have ended up in the rear seats of the car that pulled in infront of me and the rear seats of the car would have ended up in the back of the drivers head !!! You wish to kill yourself on the road thats fine with me but I do not want to be the one that has to live with that aftewards.

You know it would be nice if just one of these motoring programmes on TV instead of showing us just things like how great the latest supercars (that none of us could ever afford without a lottery win) are and how fast they can go around tracks, they showed people how dangerous the roads are these days with more drivers using them and the marked drop in driving standards and did things like helping people remember simple road craft that would make the roads safer for all of us. I do not think there is anything in our current driving test that educates new drivers on motorway madness or awareness of the needs of lorries and the fact thay are not just big cars and things that have to be overtaken at all costs or pulled out infront of at junctions as "Lorries are slow" and you have to get be infront of them.

I think that like many difficult jobs done by skilled people we all think that because we make those jobs look easy they must be easy !! I am not just talkng about truck drivers here. How many of us think that the office cleaner has an easy life ?? or just how hard can it be to do this job or that job never having tried that job for ourselves. Some of the most simple everyday jobs we see people doing and take for granted, are sometimes the most skilled.

" never judge a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes " the same goes for the job that person does.

So next time you catch yourself looking down on someone because of the job they do or think its and easy job that anyone could do, have a think about when if ever you have done that job or even if you could or would want do that that job ????

When do we start to get old ?

Like so many others , I have made it through another week that seems to be exactly like the week before and the week to come ?? At what age does this state of mind kick in ? Is there a certain point in our lives where routine takes a hold and we all switch to autopilot ??

For me I think it was around the time I realised I was too old to be out on the town and going on drunken holidays with a group of lads, mainly because the group of lads wives and girlfriends would not not let them come out to play..lol..lol

I can remember when I was younger, we all used to laugh at the old guys ( in their thirties) out on the town drinking too much and chasing the girls while their wives where not around and thinking how sad they where (oldest swinger in town), never thinking at some point I would turn in to one of those guys.

I am glad to be able to report that I only ever made that mistake once and it was on my last "lads holiday" that life caught up with me. I remember it well, we were all sat on the beach drinking, I was on a twenties holiday with a bunch of good friends and various girls and guys on the same holiday. Drink being what it is we started playing silly question games where you had to tell the truth !? One question was "how old you really were". Well my friends had the sense to lie slightly but I did not and answered honestly where upon a young girl sitting next to me laughed and announced I was only a couple of years younger than her Mum !! Drunk as I was the penny dropped big time. ( I was 32 the young girl was 17 )

In my defence, we always went on such holidays as a group of lads as we knew we would be in hotels with others there to get drunk and party and not be in family hotel's where we would be too loud etc.

You know age is a very strange animal. Some of us get old before our time and others feel like Peter Pan all our lives. Even on my worst days I still think I am the same young man that could work and party 24/7 maybe its the single, no commitments life I have ?? who knows, maybe age is after all just state of mind controlled by responcibilities and commitments to others. People change when they have children or a house to pay for and as I have ranted about before, so many people today have to commit their lives and their age clock to work to make ends meet for those they have to care for.

I have to laugh when I catch myself wondering if the young Policeman I see in the street Mum know's he is out on his own? as I can still here the old saying "that you know you are getting old when the Policemen are looking too young".

Well I am 47 going on 18 in spirit if not in body ..lol..lol and you know, I can still out work most of the kids today if not out drink them anymore lol.(which is no bad thing)
